Unfortunately there are no "official VW" T3 manuals still in print for
'67 and earlier. The '68+ Bentley will work for 90% of what you will
need. Otherwise, you can still purchase new the Haynes (VW 1500 & 1600
Type 3) for all years (does early years pretty well, but uses their own
funky photo's and text). A good used book store might have a copy of
the Clymer (VW Service and Repair Handbook, Square and Fastback '62-'73)
which uses official photo's and text (?). If you're lucky Kevin might
still have a couple copies of the Scientific for earlier years.
I'm not sure why I keep buying manuals. I guess I'm hoping they will
somehow compensate for my lack of experience? I borrowed the Muir book
(manual?) before I even bought my car, ended up reading it cover to
cover. I think he set a good tone for all my future work. On cold days
when I let Phillip warm-up, I imagine how long it would take to roll a
cigarette before I drive off.
