Re: The "KnowItAll" '73 SqrBk..

I too have done a much smaller scale upgrade on my 71 Squareback to make it
more roadable for long trips and extensive use. I've added cruise, delay
wipers etc but have left the basic VW design and engine alone as its reliability
have been proven and the cost of reliable larger motors is very $$.
With older or more 1 of a kind cars such as the Notchback in the states
it becomes more of a preservation issue when doing anything to them that
can't be undone but for the average square.. well.. sometimes some creativity
can be OK. Perhaps most important is to KNOW what your doing, that big
motor may be neat but will you get 100Kmi out of it? do you need to??
with mine I pile the miles on so fast that if the motor went in 40K I'd
be up the paddle without a creek but for the show car or sunday driver
that may be many years down the road.

And for the electric sunroof, did you know that the Japenese cars (Mazda)
use the same spacing in the cable wrap?? and the same gear pitch! I have
a motor out of an RX7 and.. Hmmmm.....
