> Well.. I drove the Notch till the 16th of December this year.. unheard of
in the northeast to go this
> late without salt..course now there several inches of it at each
intersection!
> I have a few observations and conclusions
> First off.. as you might imagine I HATE CARBURATORS! Chokes dont track
right over the temp range..
> you back it out of the garage and end up kicking off the fast idle cam
and then she just wants to
> keep stalling oh well.. Itll be FI soon!
>
> This is a 65 Notch on a 72 square pan and chassis. The 65 Notch is MUCH
lighter than the 72 square
> and the square suspension is stiffer in the rear and has a larger sway
bar in the front. The IRS
> suspension itself is lighter than the swing. This all makes for
excellent handling! This car is at
> factory height but has so little body roll that it just goes around
corners like they werent there!
> Stock tires too And Ive pushed it a few times ! The ride is bouncier
with the stiff suspension but
> it doesnt bottom out or have the ground clearence problems that lowering
has, it is also not hard on
> the ball joints, bearings and bushings in the front end. Its faster, and
gets better MPG than the 71
> Square but only so because its lighter and maybe a wee bit too lean as
the jetting is for the 1500
> original engine in it.
> I cant go anywhere without a crowd, and a lot of questions! Im very
happy with it.
>
> I have also noticed that the engine (old worn out 72 square engine) goes
through a lot more temp
> changes that I saw in the square, everytime I came off the highway and
started up again accelerating
> to speed the temp would soar to 225 or so in the summer, then come down.
I then noticed that on the
> Square I used a cast iron Tee as opposed to the brass in the Notch..
OOPs! I changed to brass and
> saw the same kind of thing to a lesser degree as the Square engine isnt
shot . So.. coming off the
> highway and accelerating back up to speed is stressful.. something to
keep in mind.
>
> Now shes sleeping.. waiting for a Berg engine next year.

> PS you KNOW your seals are new if you cant close the doors with the
windows up!
