Dearest Volks- A few years ago my left generator stud (the one on the coil side) broke off. I was able to screw the remaining stud out, and made the lame decision to screw a larger size bolt down in there to hold the generator strap. Well, the extra diameter of the bold ended up cracking the aluminum case, and now I can't get it tight again. This is obviously a problem as the generator, however slightly, is probably moving around while I drive. Any advise for a short-term solution? I have a complete 1969 TIII engine and housing (in fact, the whole car) so I know eventually I can replace the whole aluminum assy., but in the mean time I was thinking about trying to quick-fix it by putting in a bolt from the underside (? is this possible?) and bolting it from the top. Or is some JB Weld trick with a stock size stud in order? TIA for any suggestions!!
