RE: [T3] Rear mud flaps.

If they are the kind that have a square shape then there is no quick and
easy way to mount them (especially with the "brackets" they supply, I know).

If you have the true, Type III mud flaps, they will have a top that is very
narrow and triangular shaped. These come with brackets that fit the
old-style fenders but the new fenders (our cars) won't work. But, all is
not lost! The mud flap lip will slip on the fender lip and it can be bolted
to the fender lip. Be sure to use a flap washer on BOTH sides of the flap
to distribute the 'squish'. Use a self-locking nut (i.e. Nyloc) and don't
over-tighten; just so the flap is snug. I put one of those self-locking
plastic tie wraps in the top, inboard mounting hole in the flap and secured
it to some body part to keep the mud flap from getting all floppy at speed.

Go to 'http://www.thesamba.com/vw/type3/' and click on Literature. Browse
through it for accessories and you'll see an example of one style of mud
flaps (trapezoidal top).
