What a great day, not!!! I went out to start the Nochster and while idling I heard a mild backfire...Cold I thought. Wrongo!!! The piece o junk Fram oil filter exploded! Second one in 2 months! It came apart right at the seam to the filter base. Oil everywhere and no clean place to fix it. The parking pad is on a sharp incline! Anyway, called the local supply shop and they said there has been a rash of Fram filters doing this....explanation: A faulty pressure check valve. Made sense, the temps in the low 30s...but, oil pressure was at about 60psi at idle. Idle being 450rpm. So, BEWARE! Went with NAPA this time.
