[T3] first and last wcm horror story

Way back when wcm first started advertising side chrome kits for the type 3's,
I immediately placed my order, as this was the only time I had seen them
available (nowadays the'yre available almost anywhere mail order). Excitement
about replacing the lost chrome, and filling the many holes on the sides of my
Notchback faded as time went by. A month later, and no chrome, then two. I
called to inquire as to the whereabouts of my kit and was informed that the
kit was on backorder as they were "still waiting for the shipment from
Germany". Well this made the wait worth it I suppose, as long as its real
German chrome, and not shoddy repro junk. Well 3 more months went by, as well
as several more phone calls, and a whole lot of nothing accomplished. Just as
I was losing all hope of obtaining chrome trim for my poor car, I made one
final call at month 6, only to hear the words "Oh yeah we got those in, I hope
we have a set left". The bastards had gotten their shipment and luckily I
called on the right day, to secure my well earned kit. Well aside from getting
the wrong (late model plastic) clips and eating the cost of return shipping, I
had my long awaited side chrome, but wait, they had overcharged me? When I
placed my order the kits were advertised at $100, and the invioce said $120.
Well whats another phone call? This time I was lucky enough to talk to some
sort of shift manager, and the best he could do was to meet me halfaway and
knock $10 off the price (which by the way was never refunded to my credit
card). Rather than waste more time and stress over a few more bucks, I've
decided to give my business to other more "customer friendly" operations.
(Rocky Mountain Motorworks is recommended for friendly help and service and a
good selection) I'm sure several of you have had good experiences with this
company, and this may just be an isolated incident, but this is my first and
last wcm horror story. Thanks for letting me ramble -Jim D.
