Sounds just like mine when it went. You take a chance with a junker one; could be recently replaced, could be useless or about to fail and take your generator with it. Pay your money and take your choice. As they get older and damper, the screen elements corrode and stop working. Take off the power connectors to it and measure the resF9Ñ Much more than 3 or 4 ohms and it probably won't do anything much. If that's OK, there's a relay under the back seat for the rear de-fogger and a switch on the dash (with a curly wire painted on it). If the rear element is not intact, I hear a 12 volt computer-type fan keeps the air circulating over the screen and helps a lot, as you have heat in the car I hope. Dave.
