i recently bought some tires after shopping for a few months. most places are desperate for your business, especially the chains, who all seem to have a lowest price guarantee. i found places like firestone/goodyear/whatever dealers to be pretty much nonnegotiable, and they're already overpriced. only go there if you're a granny or grandpa with a crown vic. i went to america's tire co (which is the same company as discount tires direct - tire rack's main adversary). their price per tire was a couple of bucks more than the magazine/internet price, so they dropped to that price. they took off the super-duper warranty nonsense stuff. they waived the waste tire disposal fee. then i got their out-the-door price including mounting, tax, everything, and merrily went around the other places like wheel works, and then went back to america's tire co, because he was a decent bloke, and he beat my then lowest price (incidentally, came out to be $208 for 4 dunlop 165r15s). none of these places asked for written proof, but i have too much of a conscience to lie to them. so, you should be able to beat tire rack's price when you consider that you still have to pay a fair bit to have the tires fitted, but their price is a good place to start. hope some of this makes sense. sonny ------------------Sð÷----------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
