There is no need to put oil additives in your oil. First, there isn't enough conclusive proof that such additives work. Most are hit and miss and coincidental. If you want your engine to run without oil then dowse it with water like they show on the commercial -- the flowing water cools picates so of course the engine is still gonna run! Adding Teflon is a joke. It requires very high temperatures to get the stuff to bond to metal and the only area that you will find these temps are *inside* the combustion chamber. The stuff ends up floating around clogging up oil passages or getting [properly] trapped in the oil filter. Adding it to an air-cooled VW engine that is experienced is even worse as it will loosen up any deposits and bring about an early demise. Use a quality motor oil that has detergents in it (these keep deposits from forming) and change it as required and your engine will last. If you want superior lubrication then switch to a pure synthetic oil, then you won't need additives and you'll enjoy easier cold morning starts as well. But don't use pure synthetic if your engine is experienced as the synthetic may breakup deposits and do to your engine what the additive could do. The best time to use synthetic is after the (rebuilt) engine has been broken in.
