It seems as my car warms up i lose oil pressure. At 1100rpm i get about 13psi and when i'm cruising about 3000rpm i'm getting 27-30 psi. Sometimes i lose all oil pressure alltogether at idle (car dies) I'm thinking its over heating. How was the crankshaft bearing clearance? loose fitting bearings can cause that. Check the fuel mixture to see if it's too lean, and also make sure the carbs are balanced. (I've got 34s on mine too and had a similar problem until I fixed it) Also make sure that the timing is not too far advanced, I've got mine at 5 degrees BTDC had it at 10 BTDC but that made it run too hot. (009 dist.) I thought it might be the pressure releif valve (single releif case) plunger sticking so i replaced both the spring and plunger w/ new ones from CB. A new plunger can still stick if there's sludge built up in the plunger bore, check that and make sure it's clean. If the hole is clean you should be able to push the plunger all the way in the bore, let go and it should fall back out on it's own. Also make sure that the oil cooler fins are not plugged up. I don't know what to do! >> I hope this helps, David 71 Squareback ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
