If I understand him right, (and driveway is the same as lane, the little
gravel way that leads from your street to your house, where one parks the
car) it was parked in his driveway.  A local ordinance against unregistered
vehicles allowed a local homeowner's association to have a towing company
come and haul it away.  

It's good we live in a free country.  I've been threatened many, many times,
I live in a very uptight YUPpie scumbag neighborhood, and my VW gets
stickers on it (registered!  Little tags clearly on the license plates!)
that unregistered vehicles are strictly forbidden, and if I don't move the
car to a proper 'storage facility' they'll hook it, and bye-bye.  My '68
Skylark was ² in primer, but just as legal, and I awoke one Saturday morning
around 9 to the sound of the towtruck!  I went to the homeowner's
association president's house and pitched a fit (right in front of his wife
and kids!  It was great fun!).

They continued to put stickers on the Buick until I solved the problem by
loaning the car to a friend a few months back (I don't mind, he's slowly
fixing it as he drives it).

	When you say driveway, do you mean your property?  Can they really
	enter your property and remove it ?  Maybe I have misunderstood;
	after all what you call pavement, we call road or street, and what
	we call pavement, you call sidewalk.
