The quiet guy who reads, but doesn't say much has owned: 65 bug -- that was an "Original CA car" with about 5 years of "Original VA rust." It has died and been brought back to life about 5 times, stolen three, and right now it is on an IV drip. My father was the original owner, then passed on to eternal hell of two college aged sons who "maintained it" for ten years. It is now back in his trusted hands as he waits for my brother or me to take it and RUSTore it. For all you speed freaks out there who are boasting these incredible speeds (are they posted in kM/hr?), this bad boy still pushes 55. And that's about all its got. Oh, and the "AC" we installed in VA works great. ;-) And my baby is a nice blue, late model : 71 SQUARE! Original AM radio with monophonic quality sound. I bought it from a Restoration Shop in San Jose on Lincoln/Lonus that was just featured in the SJ Mercury news. (One of the journalists just had his first T1 restored, so he wrote about it. Nothing special.) Basically it is awaiting a few bucks to fix it up nice and strip off Earl Scheib's quality work, maybe get rid of the touch of rust. The PO didn't realize a leaking seals would let water in, then rust the inside of the car. The outside is, as you would expect from a CA car, rust free. It is happily garaged during the rain storms we are having now. This leads me to another question: Anyone got a blue left door for a 71? The PO aparently was confused at how to operate doors. The hinges are *slightly* torn off. Steve Glavas in Downtown SJ, a walk from the new Tech Museum I'm sure you've all heard about. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
