Sorry 'bout that bad pun, I couldn't resist. I'll spare you the whole
story, which is definitly getting into Air Cooled Junkyard territory,
but in mid-July, local authorities ( not cops, but trying to be...) saw
fit to tow my stripped-almost-to-the-bone '72 Square from my driveway,
despite my kicking & screaming. It's standard practice in cases like
this, that one can retrive their car from the towing company after
paying fines or it will be auctioned.Strange part is upon calling the
towing company, they told me they had no record of ever taking my car
into custody. I already knew it would < sob..> go to the crusher, but I
planned on pulling the tranny, front beam, new calipers, hinges, guages
first. I have had no luck locating it yet. Now I'm sure it's the hood of
a Lincoln Navigator by now, but being a bit optomistic, I wonder if
anyone in the Detroit area has seen a very stripped, yellow & rust '72
Squareback in any junkyard outings. (Or any other III's for that matter)
If anyone really wants to hear the whole story about selective ordinance
enforcement in the birthplace of Henry Ford they can drop me a
line....I've ranted enough - Erich
