Greg,
If you only smell it strongly inside the car rather than in the
engine bay or under the front, maybe there's a leak in the pipe
inside the tunnel.  Hope not; the official solution is to run a
second pipe (metal) by the left-hand side of the tunnel (like the
brake pipe the other side), but some put it under the floorpan edge,
where it's reasonably protected.
