[T3] front end problem HELP!!!

I just started to lower my front end on my '68 Fastback tat has a front end
from a 72.
The lower arm pulled out very easily on the right side and the left was
fairly easy with a few hits with a hammer.  I put the arms where i wanted
and put it all back together.  BUT now i can still pull out my lower arms
from the beam! What holds the arms in? or what broke?
