Matt & Katie, Leaving the battery in the car shouldn't do anything to 'hurt' it unless of course there is an electrical problem of some sort causing a drain on the battery. But like Jim said,I think he is the one, just starting the car & letting it idle won't do much in the way of charging the battery. So after so much time the battery may be too low to start the car & may need charging from the charger again. If the battery goes dead after a short time of leaving it in the car, then there may be the electrical problem I referred to earlier. To temporarily 'cure' this, disconnect the ground strap from the battery to the frame & reconnect to start car again.
