Hey, nice to hear there is another helpful (?) computer-literate son helping drag his T3 owning Dad into the new Millenium. ;-) Dave. -----Original Message----- From: jadney@vwtype3.org <jadney@vwtype3.org> To: type3@vwtype3.org <type3@vwtype3.org> Date: 19 August 1998 10:58 Subject: [T3] My trip Dear Type 3ers, If you get this message then it means that I have managed to get back on line. I am at my folks home trying to get my Dad's computer organized to the point where I can get him set up to dual boot Win311 and Win95 so he can get used to something more modern than Dos. Right now we have used Partition Magic to repartition his hard drive and I am trying to move all his applications to a new partition where 311 and 95 can both see them. Win 3.11 and Win 95 will each be installed in their own primary partition so they can be independent of each other. Of course right not everything is SNAFU, except for his Compuserve directories which I have not touched yet. I have installed a fresh copy of Pegasus just for me so I can do email. My trip down here was not quite uneventful. After lunch on Monday my ATsqbk would not start, not a sound. Of course I immediately suspected the neutral safety switch, but was sidetracked by some other symptoms which misled me. Eventually it turned out to be that switch, so my shift lever is currently uncovered and I have to touch the wires together by hand to start. Works like a charm for now, but it did quit completely without warning and I was totally unable to start by wiggling the shift lever, something which has always worked on all the other cars I have ever had this rather common problem on. Ah yes, another learning experience! ;-} Jim - Jim Adney temporarily away from home ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
