This thread is addictive...what about making a long coil ala Porsche, and
having it inside the rear bumper with some sort of a small (but long) air
scoop to bring air in there...it could have as many as 8 or 9 loops in it,
which should cool the oil pretty well given the appropriate amount of air
circulation...you could also hook up a blower (with the motor mounted up
under the rear apron with a tube to carry the cooling air into the
bumper...of course, you'd have to have a spare bumper to work with (or not
mind modifying your existing one...but then again, now that I think about
it I don't remember seeing bumpers on your car (saw the pics in your
website)....hmmm...I'll keep thinking...

Subject: RE: Secondary oil cooler
Can't compare too well as it's a different beast (water-cooled American
eight-cylinder engine vs. air-cooled VW four-banger). As per my Porsche
comment
I don't want to string up oil lines that far. It would also violate my
"simple
and common" goal as installing a grill is too much work (well, and those
long,
expensive oil lines). Thanks for the thoughts, though, and keep thinking!
