[T3] I bought a '62 Notch!!!

Sorry -- had to get your attention.

Dear folks, please, please, PLEASE heavily edit the messages you
include when replying to a list posting. This is *particularly* the case
when you find that you're including the entire previous message(s) at the
beginning or end of your e-mail. There are a bunch of reasons for this:

o It makes searching list archives less efficient (you get 10
replies to a search for "broken left door handle" because 9 people replied
to the original question about door handles, but the discussion switched
over to mufflers after about the third reply).

o It hugely inflates both the daily digests and the complete
archive (yes, I've saved *every* post!). It could probably be 30% smaller
if people edited just a bit!

o It wastes your disk space (which you may or may not have in
abundance).

o It increases download times (important for those who have slow
or expensive connections).

o It makes replies much less readable -- too much crap to wade
through.

You should almost never quote a message in its entirety. Remember
that all but the very, very newest subscribers will have seen the original,
and recent posts are available on the Web at vwtype3.org/list/. (These are
updated automatically every hour, and remain posted for 3.5 days.)

It is, however, often relevant and useful to quote several bits of
previous messages here and there just to be clear.

As always, Keith Park remains Captain Bandwidth for never(?)
including ANY of an original message. Steven Ayres wins the coveted
Commander Concise award for his careful, precision inclusions of the most
relevant nuggets of previous messages. Check out their posts!

Thanks to all of you who've read this far. Now... did somebody say
something about a '62 Notchback?

(p.s.: I'll kill ya if you reply to me and include this message... ;)
(p.p.s.: Yeah, that includes you, Dan...;)
