DO NOT LEAVE THE HEAT EXCHANGER AIR DUCTS OPEN! Think about it. When you
need
cabin heat you open the flaps and the air goes from the air ducts, through
the
heat exchangers, and into the cabin. That means there is always positive
air
pressure at these points. Remember, the air ducts are located right next to
the
engine cooling ducts and these always have air exiting them from the fans to
the
engine. It is better to seal them that way all cooling air will go over the
cylinders should the cooling flaps allow it.
In reality, if the heating system is working properly and so is the engine
cooling system then there is no need to change anything. If the cabin
heating
flaps are closed then no air is being bled from the cooling air (in effect
it's
like the air ducts are sealed) and all the air is pushed over the engine.
Naturally, in hot weather you won't be using the heating system so all the
air
the engine needs will go to cooling it, if the cooling system is properly
working.

Subject: cooling question

Hi all,
Here in Israel the heating system is almost useless.
I'd like to make some modifications, so to use the energy spended on the
previous heating, in improving the much more needed cooling.
Question : would it be right to disconnect the air ducts from the
turbine which go to the heater boxes, and : 1. leave them open (vacuum
sucking principle) , or : 2. block them hermetically (to improve the air
flow to the cylinder cooling fins).
Many thanks !
