T3: mud flaps

how many of you folks currently have type-1 mud flaps on your type-3's?   i
was told by the local vw shop butt heads that the type-1 brackets would fit my
notch, little did i know when i purchased them that the brackets DIDN'T!  what
i need to know is how you other folks have your flaps mounted and if you had
brackets made or modified or what. i just hate the fact that i purchased these
flaps and they seem to be keeping the mud from flying up in my closet instead
of on other cars.. if any custom brackets were made could somebody send me a
diagram so i can get them made?
