Dear folks,

	it's been some time since I've put the list on "moderated" status.
When the list is moderated, that means that all posts go only to my
mailbox, and then, when I get around to it (once every day or two) I send
the messages on to all of the subscribers.  This really detracts from the
list, takes away the possibility of pseudo-real-time "discussions," and
plain hurts folks who have emergencies with their cars ("I need help
*today* to get my car back on the road!").

	Why would I do this?  Well, this happens when postings become
inappropriate.  I'm really pretty lenient... if posts have *anything* to do
with Type III, that's *wonderful*.  Even the random air-cooled (non T3)
topic is no very big problem.  What are the problems?  Here you go:

	1) chain letters (I love you, make money fast, etc.)
	2) virus "warnings" (usually hoaxes anyway)
	3) thoughtless (or even thoughtful) responses to the above

	Also, direct posting of binaries (pictures, sounds) take up *lots*
of bandwidth and aren't enjoyable by everyone.  If you would like to share
a picture, put it on a web site or offer to email it directly to interested
parties.

	The membership of this list has really been quite good in these
areas.  I understand that some folks are new to the Internet and don't
understand netiquette.  I hope this message helps some folks avoid a faux
pas on this or some other list in the future.

	So--on the topic of Type IIIs:  my '69's engine parts are back from
the balancer, and all of the "tinware" & all the other steel accessories
are back from the powder coater!  Hurrah!  The engine is going back
together, and the car should be done by late this week (I'll call it early
next week just to be safe).  I got it insured here in Michigan yesterday,
so it's off to get the license plate this evening (if I've got time).  It
may be here in as soon as two weeks or so!!!
