Yes, the wire on the 6 Volt car must be bigger diameter than on a 
12 Volt. I don„t know how big exactly. I suggest you have a look
at the existing wires and choose the size from there.
To run the wire to the dash just follow the existing wire harness.
There is a grommet from the engine compartment into the cabin, then
under the rear seat, along the regulator, under the carpet to the 
front. This would make to wire "invisible".
By the way are you one of these lucky people having an original 
Type 3 tacho?
