Traditionally the color brown means 'ground' in the VW (Porsche too?)
electrical realm. So my *guess* would be to ground it.

Expert advice wanted:
Well I finally got a 12v wiper motor for Phillip (part #311 955 113G).
However, there is an extra brown lead on the wiring harness. Seeing as
I still have my reostat type switch, I don't know were to hook it up
too.
If I ignore it, the motor runs whenever the ignition is turned on.
When I ground this lead with my trouble light it flashes at the "top" of
the wiper swing (odd). I don't prefer the '67 two speed type switch, is
there a way to keep the reostat?
