John, If you believe your installation method to be safer and superior to theirs I suggest you perform the operation your way and document the process and take *plenty* of black & white photos (if you plan on publishing then I recommend you use slides). After everything is said and done use the car for a month and check your work (look for cracks, leaks, you know what to look for more than I) and if it's still all one piece then send them your documentation along with the photos and your credentials (to prove you're a subject expert and not some Joe). Explain, in technical detail if need be, why your installation is better beyond a shadow of a doubt, and recommend that they change their process. By being willing to help them along with excellent documentation and images (photos/drawings) they *may* be willing to use your procedure instead. If not I wouldn't mind putting your documentation on my Type Three Technical Page (no charge!) as that's why I have it (once I get all my other projects in order...) They were very helpful and knowledgable about their products. They filled my request for special cutting of the floor pan and my request for Express shipping with out any trouble or hassle. The parts arrived as promised. THe quality of the pats was not as good as I had hoped, but half way reasonable. The thickness of the parts varied alot (like 200%) and the non-mold side of the part (read interior of the car) was very rough. If it was covered with carpet not too big of a deal. There instructions for installation were clear even if I disagreed with the method. I will have to dig it up again and let everyone know my exceptions to the procedure. -- John Jaranson Research Engineer Ford Motor Company SRL 2621 Dearborn, MI 48121 (313)323-0553 (313)845-4724 FAX
