Its been two years since I bought my fastback, and just now have I gotten around to looking through the stack of papers the PO gave me with the car. I have learned SO much about my car in the last hour than I ever could just looking at it. I found buried in there the original car order receipt. Turns out, I'm the 2nd owner of the car, and it was bought just down the road from where I used to live! Plus I learned of all the accessories that came with it. It had mud flaps, which are unfortunately gone, and a radio. I remember someone asking about the radio housing, whether it was plastic or metal. Well, mine's plastic. It also had a bunch of thing I've never heard of as being official VW options: ventshades, door edge, sill, and corner guards. I've also learned that the car has been painted twice, replaced the engine case and trans, and various other things. No wonder I couldn't find the engine number. Total cash delivered price of a 1968 VW Fastback with the above options: $2542.86. Not a bad deal, but I only paid $500. 8^) If anyone wants to see this paper, let me know and I'll scan it for you.
