Re: Towing things with a Squareback

A Hobie cat as an accessory? I've heard of A/C being an accessory but... Is
this in case you run outta gas you can sail in to the nearest gas station? Ha
ha, just giving you a hard time, I understand what you meant :)

As for weight considerations: Estimate the total cargo weight (2 adults, 2 kids
and assorted gear) and subtract this from the allowable vehicle cargo weight.
Hopefully what' left over is enough to cover the towed cargo. Just because the
cargo is being towed doesn't mean you don't have to include it in the total
cargo weight -- it's all being moved by the little engine in back! The various
shop manuals give the allowable weight capacities (everyone should have at least
one of these manuals!) and you can find this info on a little label on the
driver's side door sill (US models only?) below the striker plate (where the
door latches on to the body when you close the door).

I was just about to ask that question- or something similar. Where would a
hitch attach to on the type 3? Where do those factory ones go? Weld or
bolt? I'm buying a tiny Hobie cat as an accessory for my square.....
