A check of the microfilm gives the following : The red/clear was the standard side marker light. The yellow lenses were part of M46 which was "side mounted turn signals" and M278 which was "side mounted turn signals instead of parking lamps" for different groups of countries. I had never noticed this option before. I have already typed out the complete M number listing and it is posted on Greg's web site. So the red/clear lenses are correct for your car since you also have front turn signals.
