I had a transistor fail in my Mark 10 CDI in about 1970. If was only
about 4 years old at the time and I replaced the pair with something
a bit beefier and it worked until I sold the car about 10 years
later. Still, my impression is that the electronic units are very
reliable.
OTOH, I have never had a rubbing block break off or seen a bad Bosch
capacitor.
