Or, try this one:
  The rotor slowly worked its way loose and sliced thru the walls of the
cap, effectively removing the top of the cap!  (This was a waterpumper)  
  Again, if I didn't still have (half) of the cap, I'da never have
believed it.  Now I carry a cap and rotor with the points, condenser,
and single (all-purpose) plug wire.  I keep thinking of pulling the gas
tank and mounting the spare motor, to minimise lost time when the rear
motor goes!
