Re: To Pertronix or not to Pertonix, that is the question

Has anyone put one of these on? If you have, how does it compare to the
 stock set-up?>>

 Steve:

Have a Pertronix in my '74 2.1 Liter 914 (NPR Big Bore) with stock D-Jetronic
FI and It works great!. The distributor on this car is virtually identical
(dimensionally) to the type 3 FI distributor. The unit fit well but I
initially had some rubbing between the Hall Effect sensor and the bottom of
my rotor. I filed off some of the diameter of the plastic rotor base and it
was fine.

This installation actually made what I thought was a fuel injection problem
dissappear. I had a high speed skip under load that vanished (must have been
ignition-related). And I think the car would even start right up if I hosed
the engine down with water. What a difference versus those old points!

PS: I run a Bosch Blue coil with mine.
