Charlie and All: Your unfortunate story reminds me that I now instinctively drive defensively in order to keep our Variant on the road and in one piece. Many drivers back in Poland were complete idiots. Here in Croatia, they consider old cars to be just another old car that should be trashed. The moral is to drive defensively. Just recently, someone told me a joke about what was written on a cemetary grave stone: "Here lies a man who had the right of way." So, saving our nice, old pieces of junk t3s by driving defensively can benefit more than just our cars.
