It would be an excellent idea! My Square has a Pertronix Ignitor and Friday I just installed a Compufire in my Porsche. Both work the same way (magnets, better than optical) and are great! The Compufire was the easiest of the two to install (no gapping required). However, since the 914 is FI (like many of your T3 out there) I did have to file some of the plastic away from the top of the disk where the rotor sits so I could put the distributor cap on. Other than that and working in the *very* confined engine bay of the 914 it was an easy install! Both are good, but if you want to split hairs I recommend the Compufire.
