>Only 72 T3s came with vac adv/ret. (which is what you are referring >to when you mention "both vacuum circuits." Sorry, what I meant was that each carb has a vacuum connection, and would I connect the dist to both using a "t" or could I just use one side? >If you have changed to a non-stock carb you are pretty much stuck with >mech adv only. So you think that trying to go back to the original vac distributor would be a waste of time? >AT vac modulator is intended to pick off a different point; it uses >manifold vacuum rather than venturi vacuum which the dist uses. >VW made a different vac modulator for the OE cars with AT/dual carbs. >If you just mix these randomly, your results will not be predictable. My car shifts fine with the AT mod connected to the carbs. If I recall, it even shifted ok with the hose disconnected. Do these things have a purpose? I suppose they hold the tranny in 2nd gear a little longer during hard acceleration or something. I can only guess, with no Bently or Haynes. Ta for now, Curt 70 sb
