Sorry, what I meant was that each carb has a vacuum connection, and would I connect the dist to both using a "t" or could I just use one side?

So you think that trying to go back to the original vac distributor would be a waste of time?

My car shifts fine with the AT mod connected to the carbs.  If I recall, it even shifted ok with the hose disconnected.  Do these things have a purpose?  I suppose they hold the tranny in 2nd gear a little longer during hard acceleration or something.  I can only guess, with no Bently or Haynes.
