hood/decklid seal

I oredered hood and decklid seals for my '69 fastback and when they came
in they told me they were the same even though WCM lists two different
seals.  They gave me two hood seals.  I'd have to cut it to fit because
its obviously longer than a decklid seal.  Has anyone heard of this? 
Will there be a problem using the hood seal cut to fit the decklid?  Do
they seat the same and have the same type channels?
