Dear T-3 List: Can an early steering wheel and horn button, circa 62-71, be attached to a late steering column (‘72-’73)? My pseudo ’64 Notch is being reassembled with mechanicals from a ’72 Squareback. I’m not really all too fond of the look of the late steering wheel, so I’d like to retrofit (pun intended) an earlier one. A review of Bently manual seems to indicate that this may be possible, especially if I use a ‘69-’71 steering wheel. Has anybody out there done this? There was some discussion recently about seat bushings, the black plastic things that fit on the seat rail and keep the seat from wobbling and rattling. I wasn’t paying attention to the discussion at the time, but I now find that mine have disintegrated into many little pieces. The West Coast Metric catalogue shows the item, part # 311-215-L/R, but with the dreaded "Not Available" message. Anyone have any clues where these can be had?
