Howdy hey, Just got back from bringing great-grandma over from the west coast for the Thanksgiving holiday. I had met someone at the Bug Jam who said they had a lead on another big-bumpered Notch somewhere here in Florida. They have a business called Victor Wilson's VW, and they are located in Bradenton, FL. I went by their shop today to get a look see, there was a real nice Porsche Spyder replicar w/ a big engine and a clean 914 out front. Inside there was a 181 (FS), a late model split bullibus, a couple of bugs, including a clean split and a nice sliding ragtop, and best of all- a clean '72 (11/71) Squareback -manual w/FI, and a '62 1500 N Notch (the notch was out for a little while, but it is kept there). Both the Square and the Notch are for sale, $6500 for the Notch, didn't inquire as to the Square. The Notch was at the Bug Jam, very clean & just rebuilt, new engine and running gear, brakes, paint, etc. They are going to goodi-cize the Notch with fog lamps, bamboo under dash tray, and some very tasty NOS Type III mudflaps (the ones with the rubber fender tab on them) before they sell it. Looks like it could be an awfully good show contender with very little effort. They also have scads of Type III engine and body parts, i.e. two late model Squareback rear fenders, exhaust pieces, trim, oil bath air cleaners, looked like a couple of doors, and (I think someone was looking for one of these just recently) the "firewall" sheetmetal piece that ties the windshield frame to the fenders and front trunk floor (I don't know what it's called, the brake fluid resevior (sp?) mounts to it), it has a VW part # on it and is in NOS shape. I told them I would put it out to the Type III list, might be a good source in case anyone needs parts. They are open evenings and most weekends, they're phone number is (941) 758-0846. I talked with Kip, he'll be able to help anyone that calls. Hopefully, the late Notch tip will turn up something, we'll see next week. David Walters '73 1600 L Notch (one step closer to done) S.
