The truly alarming part of that story to me is that I know Tom Schwendeman (real name, a.k.a. Schwendemeister, Schwendeburger), the star of the show (we are splitting rent on a storage garage in Ohio where my '66 still lives, surrounded by some of Tom's stash of N.O.S. parts), and I could see that being a true story. Of course, in translation, there is usually some embellishment and resizing of truth, but Tom's the kind of fellow that just might try that, given the opportunity. I'll ask him next time we talk. Or maybe one of our northern friends could ask him at one of the shows around Ohio, he hits most of them with his Dodge swap meet mobile - easiest way to spot him, he always has an "amish look" straw hat and beard to match, and faithful dog Blue close by.
