Is the quoted price for a system that will work on an air-cooled VW? Going by my experience with air adjustable shocks...you can put them on the front as well. If your front end has been lowered then you may need to get Beetle air adj. shocks. You could make each shock independently adjustable but keeping the corners at equal heights could be a little challenging. An air compressor would be better than air tanks (and less dangerous in an accident) and would fit easily in the trunk, maybe the spare tire area (JC Whitney sells such a unit with dashboard control). Response time isn't quick by any means and you could not use the system for jumping and hoping. Remember, if you use hydraulics (and the price does sound reasonable) you will be adding more weight and losing cargo space because you will need to add several more car batteries and the oil supply system. I think it'd be cool if I could add one of those neat automatic jack systems, you know, like they use in auto racing that lifts the whole body high enough to lift the tires from the ground. :p Toby Erkson, air_cooled_nut@pobox.com '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L '75 Porsche 914 1.8L Portland, Oregon, http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/8501/ ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Hydraulics and suspension adjusting Author: type-3-errors@umich.edu at SMTPGATE Date: 11/20/97 12:09 AM I called " Red's " and they quoted me a price of $ 1,100 which is not bad but some one mentioned air shocks I am going to look into this I know that the rear will not be a problem and I think I can hook up the front somehow ?????????? and even buy this means I can still have the total up, down, front, and side to side. by hooking the shock to a dash system individually that has air pressure and the ability to inflate or deflate I think by using two at least 3 gallon air tanks and two air pumps I could be able to do this.
