My 2.0L. Of course it was built by a professional, balanced and
blueprinted, using quality parts -- in other words the engine was not
cheap!
The other engine I had was a 1641cc. Not really worth the extra hassle (I
had it converted to carbs). If yours is already carbed then a slightly
bigger engine could be fine, but if it's FI then leave it alone unless you
really like to tinker with engines, often.

I have decided to get a nother car and just make my Squareback a toy so I
was wondering what sizes engines anybody has run with good success
