Well, it was a great show. I got to judge the Type 3 classes (and some others), and met a couple listees (some, I didn't even realize were listees). Dave, it was great to see you again. Rj, sorry I didn't get to meet you, but thanks for stopping by the car. It was sunny, dry, and a little chilly, but nowhere near as cold as last year's event. I decided this year I would be the man and drive my prized possion across the state of Florida for a car show. Sounded good to me. However, I discovered on Tuesday that my turn signals no longer worked. No biggie I said, so Saturday morning I packed her up and gassed up just before getting on the Turnpike. No problems until about 70 miles later when the left rear wheel decided to scream at me. It scared me then shut up again. Quiet as it was before. So I get to Yeehaw Junction (those of you not in Florida have absolutely no idea what this place is. You're not missing anything) and exit the turnpike to take route 60 over to the Bulli Brigade. I barely made it off of the highway before the wheel started yelling at me again. I pull over, but I don't see anything, so I took my uncle (VW mechanic for ages) and took him for a drive. He says a wheel bearing is going. We all sigh heavily as we wonder how to get the rear wheel assembly apart with a socket set and a big screwdriver. Well, it got done and when we got in there, we discovered that the backing plate had come loose, badly. So we repaired that and after about an hour or so delay, were on our merry way. No problems, or so I thought. Once we arrived at the hotel and checked in, one of the guys we were caravanning with informed me that my brake lights were out. Oh joy. These are not good things to happen across state. Luckily, I never got hit or pulled over. As I mentioned earlier, it was cold so of course my heat isn't hooked up. It wasn't too bad though. I drive through and entered it into "Cosmetically Challenged". At the end of the day, I walked out with a tropy plaque and a $25 gift certificate. It was fun. If any other listees think they might come next year please do so, you'll really enjoy yourself. One couple is supposed to get married on the stage next year. Thankfully, I made it home without any problems. Hopefully now I can get it fixed. Cayson Ellsworth 68 Fastback (winner of "Cosmetically Challenged", FLA Bug Jam 97) 72 Super 71 Ghia Vert (4 sale)
