You're not strictly right there Keith - The T4 was a unit construction car (no seperate pan) used mcpherson strut suspension all round and had a lot of other differences. The Brazalians used a mix of parts but made their own individual cars, and as far as I know most of them had a seperate pan excluding the Kombi. Their models did not have designated model numbers such as T1,2,3,4 but rather called their cars: --- 1600 (4 door 1600cc Notch with square headlights) --- TL (a very pretty 2 & 4 door fast back, much nicer looking than the T4, these used the T4 dual round headlight assembly as does the SP 1 & 2) --- Kombi (self explainatory) --- Fusca (Beetle) --- Brazalia a 2 door sort of short back hatch same as the 4 door Nigerian "Igala". --- The Karmann Ghia identical to the T1 K/G --- (Their own) Karmann Ghia TC (which looks a little like a Porsche) --- Variant 1600cc which came in many guises starting with square headlights like the 1600 with the last one going to the T4 headlight system. --- SP 1 & 2 1600 & 1700cc also having the T4 headlight system. Out of all the above, only the TL, Karmann Ghia TC, Variant and SP 1 & 2 could be classed in the T3 catagory as they were the only ones with the pancake flat motors. Hopefully in a couple of weeks, when my web page is updated, in the Scrapbook section, there will be some pics of the various Brazalian cars and a short blurb entitled "The Brazalian Connection" it's a bit sketchy as I don't have much detail at the moment but our member in Brazil hopefully will be able to give me more details later on. Unfortunately, VW Brazil do not put out any literature on their VW vehicle history. Andy Russo Oz T3 Register at: http://macquarie.matra.com.au/~vwtype3
