Okay, busting open my Type 3 parts list (man, I love the way it smells) I
found 15 pages of body finish and upholstery combination (cloth,
leatherette, and colors), broken down by year and chassis number. There
ain't no way I'm gonna transcribe it all into an email, either! I may scan
it at a later date, but for now the below list is what I pulled from the
Body section and it comes from the front fender and rear apron beading
lists. I am only going to list the beading color as the body color will
match but if it doesn't I will list the body color in parenthesis.
Spelling is exactly as shown in the list:
black pearl white lotus white sea blue gulf blue
ruby red anthracite birch green velvet green Baltic blue
safari beige sea sand nutria brown Delta green
savanna beige cobalt blue VW blue Granada red royal red
diamond blue regatta blue Peru green deep sea green
chinchilla toga white gentian blue turquoise metallic
sumatra green kasan red brilliant orange texas yellow
Gemini blue(Gemini metallic) Marina blue kansas beige
Sapphire blue Iberian red Shantung yellow
silver 70(silver metallic) atlas brown(brown metallic)
colorado red(colorado metallic or colorado metallic royal red)
pastel white elm green clementine
turquoise 72(turquoise metallic)
I looked up anthracite in the dictionary and it just describes it as "hard
coal" so I'm guessing that the color is a dark gray, possibly a metallic.
Can anyone tell us what the color is in the eyes of VW?
