Re: recent accident=problems with the adjuster

If the other person is at fault then don't give in to the insurance
company. Take the person to small claims court if need be. Get an
estimate of damage repairs, including a repaint, and you don't have to go
with the cheapest as the insurance company has no say in what shop you use
(in fact, I personally would NOT go to any repair shop an insurance company
recommended unless it was a registered VW dealership).

Aside from visual body damage you probably will have other damages as well.
The drive train (wheel, complete axle and tranny) and engine should be
checked over for damages as well since they (especially the tranny)
received a healthy dose of the shock as well. The body may be ever so
slightly shifted (happened to me when I rolled my baby) i.e. after repairs
you may notice that one wheel fits inside the fender more or one wheel is
closer to the fender lip.

Damn, best of luck and don't give in!

I was recently in an accident in my 66 squareback, and from what I hear it'
s
hard getting the true value of your car from the insurance agency. I was
wondering if anyone could give me advice on dealing with the insurance
adjusters, in order to get more money. My car was recently painted, and is
in very good condition (mechanically and cosmetically). When I was driving
another driver in a rental car pulled out in front of me. I managed not to
hit him head on, but the whole right side (front fender, door, rear quarter
panel) is damaged severely. It is still driveable, but the front axle seems
bent. If anyone could tell me any information to help me out it would be
greatly appreciated.

          thanks
