Stupid Question

Hello all....

I know this question is stupid, but I shall ask anyway.  Is it possible
to take a carb from an engine set up with dual carbeuretors and
transplant it to an engine that also has duals, to make it single?   The
only reason I ask is because one carbeuretor is easier to maintain than
two, and easier is better, and I assume cheaper.

If this is possible, is it as involved as, say, nuclear fusion, or is it
more in the ballpark of adjusting valves?

Any insight, even to flame me for asking stupid questions, is welcome.
