I once had this friend, lets call him Bob, who thought it would be really cool to have a porche 2.0 in his '68 fastback. So he fabricated some brackets to hold it in, did some riggin' on the flywheel and poof...Bob had his 2.0. >> Hooking a 914 2.0 to a 68 fastback tranny is like hooking a dragster motor to a lawn tractor transmission....well maybe not this bad, but you will not get what you pay for! A taller tranny ratio will definitely help. I am going with a later 3.88 R&P for my 2.0 swap (into my '67 square). I've been here before when I hooked a 110 Corvair motor to a type 1 chassis. I had an early tranny and I didn't even use 1st gear. That Corvair motor would torque right out in second on a stand-still start. From experience, the taller tranny makes it all worth the effort. Mike
