Hello James

If the average temperature in Texas in Summer is anywhere near that
of Cape Town, South Africa (also in summer) then I would suggest you
use SAE 40W oil in summer as I do. Our average summer temp. is about
27 C. I have been using SAE 40W in my SQB for more than 2 years now
and the engine seems much more comfortable in summer running on this
oil. I have an oil temp. as well as a pressure gauge in my car so I
can see what the oil is doing. On a HOT summers day the oil runs at
approx. 90 - 95 C. As our average winter temp. rarely goes below 5 C,
I use SAE 40W all yaer round.

Hope this helps.
