This will hold any pressure you put to the washer storage tank. This should solve most problems, unless your windsheild washer switch is leaking (ie the push button for the washers leaks). I don't know if replacement switches are available. I got a couple from wrecking yards and found I could drill out the rivets that hold it together. Two places tend to fail. First is the rubber valve on the pin. I was able to fashion a new one out of some neoprene gasket material. Works great. Number two is much more difficult. It is a specailly shaped rubber gasket/cover that tends to crack. I couldn't repair it, so I kept opening "bad" switches 'til I found a "good" gasket. Put it back together with two #4 X 1.25" machine screws. Finally, your spayer nozzles can get corroded or clogged. I got replacements from VW a couple of years ago. Carefully tear our the old ones with a pair of Vise-Grips (don't chip paint or ding metal). Cut tubing off flush and reattach to the new nozzles. Insert into opening until the snaps engage. This should give you a clear vision on those dusty days. P.S. The only other part to go bad (and I've never seen it) is the check valve/screw-top of the washer fluid resevoir. If it goes, just get another at a wrecking yard. They are all the same for the time period for all VWs.
