My first squareback...

     Hello all,
     
     I recently purchased a '66 squareback which currently isn't running.  
     The previous owner said he'd purchased the car when he lived in CA and 
     was intending to restore it. He put a new engine in while in CA and 
     then moved up here to the great NW.  He then lost interest in the 
     project and allowed it to sit outside for 1 to 2 years.
     
     Now that I've acquired it, what should I do to get the engine up and 
     running?  Are there any "must do's" I should know about 
     before/during/after trying to start this baby up?
